April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball players to have won medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross in Tokyo to win her third gold in the next couple of days. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic Gold. At 39, it could be her last opportunity to do so. Her optimism is that she will be able to win top awards. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs consistently or well they can earn a gold. "I'm planning to test a little luck." Ross was a Californian born in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and younger sister. In addition to playing in numerous sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits as a prep athlete. She was definitely the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. When she played in her high school volleyball career as per her college profile, she played as an outside-hitter, middle-blocker and setter. The award was presented to her as by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999, for her performance. Also, she won the 1999 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Although Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing since 2017, the former was already an established athlete on the beach long before their pairing. Actually Ross has been a winner of several significant tournaments during her time along with her two teammates. One of them is a volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, between 2007 and the year 2013. Also, she coached Klineman and herself. Kessy and Ross were an impressive force on the international arena, taking home the 2009 World Championship together. In 2012, the duo were awarded silver medals at the London Olympic Games. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary duo comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. The team won bronze in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a college athlete for USC Trojans before the start of her professional career. She played during high school and in years prior to hitting the beaches as a professional. Her time at USC was awe-inspiring. In 2000, as a freshman she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA The Freshman of the Year awards and was also an All-American. Also, she was a key player in helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she experienced a devastating personal loss but still managed to make it back as an All-American. Over the course of the two years she played for the Trojans, she helped them achieve consecutive championships. Ross was an excellent volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross played international relations as a student at USC. Margie Ross was never able to watch her daughter's climb to fame as a beach volleyball player. Ross's mom passed away due to cancer of the breast when she was in her sophomore year at USC. She continues to remember her deceased parent close and close. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her in and out of the water.
